The stunning white sandy beach of Hahei is only a 15 minute drive north of Silverstream Falls and Pacific Paradise. Hahei offers restaurants, cafes, shops, arts and crafts, tennis courts and a sheltered launching point from which to explore the dramatic coastline and forest-covered offshore islands. The small lapping waves are generally safe for children and the wide beach is ideal for a game of volleyball, petanque or frisbee.
Cathedral Cove is just 30 minutes walk north of Hahei with accessibility at low tide through a gigantic arched cavern which separates it from Mars Leg Cove. This headland was also the site of a Maori Pa.
The Hahei marine reserve, embracing reefs, sea caves and offshore islands, teams with marine life and offers excellent diving, snorkelling and kayaking.
